Prince of Persia The Sands of Time is a film directed by Mike Newall, based on the successful 2003 game of the same name. The plot follows Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal)who at a young age was adopted by the King of Persia, for his noble heart. However, after leading an attack on the sacred city of Alamut, Dastan becomes a hero, but is then framed for his fathers death, and becomes a fugitive. Dastan escapes by the help of the beautiful Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton), but their relationship constantly fluctuates between one of romance and one of sheer hate and loathing. The whole story however, revolves around a certain dagger, that possesses the ability to let loose the sands of time, giving the individual a minute to go back in time. This action-filled adventure was brilliant to watch, and extremely enjoyable.

Gyllenhaal played Dastan brilliantly, by portraying him as a sarcastic and confident young prince, but also as a insecure individual. Aswell as this, the story is brilliant with an interesting cast who make this film worthwhile, despite the difference between the game and the film.
