For those of you that dont already know, Today is the National Holocaust Memorial Day. (27th January). Its the marked day for remembering those that were effected by the terrible incidents that happened all those years ago and sharing our thoughts for the ancestors and relatives of the many people whos lives were lost. The date marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp by the Soviet Union in 1945.
A group of young people from across Oldham are planning and preparing themselves to go and visit Auschwitz (Poland) in February 2010, just one of the areas that was strongly effected by the Holocaust during the great wars, to learn of the history surrounding it and visit the scenes from the stories that still scar the world today.
So if you havent already, take a couple of minutes of peace and silence out of your busy day to remember those effected.
